Has there ever been a dream in your childhood to control your toy as if YOU were this toy? Or maybe the dream of having your own avatar after watching the James Cameron movie?
Today we’d like to describe the one-of-a-kind tactical turn-based fighting game that immerses your mind for hours and it’s called — DeFight.
DeFight is an innovative free turn-based online fighting game based on ragdoll physics where you can create your own movements. The game is based on the Play to Earn economy model and powered by multi Blockchain technology.
Game Mechanics
DeFight is a game without any pre-animated moves — all the movements of the Fighter are controlled by the player, step by step in the true-to-physics manner. Hard-hitting blows, visceral visuals, unrestrained movement — this and even more embodies the core of DeFight.
There are no fixed movements or combos, the way you might see it in the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat series. In DeFight, the player is the puppeteer, every movement and its outcome is solely decided by YOU. You do not just control the virtual character as in other games but control every joint of his body. This is a yet unseen level of unfettered control — a martial arts simulator where the movement of the characters is carried out by controlling the joints (spheres) on his body.
Fighters are faceless humanoids. They possess 20 joints and 2 main types of: Hold and Relax. It further is subdivided into states such as Relaxation, Tension, Flexion and Extension. Palms can become “sticky” and grab your opponent when the physical contact is made. Since each joint has 4 states, the total number of possible movements scales to the almost infinite number of outcomes so every battle is unique and impossible to replicate.
Moreover, you can change Fighters’ appearance, headwear, select textures that will cover your Fighter’s body, alter individual joints, unfurl carpets on the battlefield and even more. No changes to the core mechanics, all of these items are purely cosmetic! (We’ll describe it in detail in our next articles).
GamePlay
The game is based on various types of martial arts such as aikido, wushu, judo, etc. The standard mode of the game assumes an exhilarating brawl between two fighters. Each fight is limited to a certain amount of time called Frames. After a couple of frames there is a 10 seconds pause that gives time to perform manipulations with the avatar. Also, during the pause players will be able to see the active Shadow of their character that shows in real time how the avatar will move if you change the state of a certain joint(s). After the pause, both fighters make a move and advance the time by a certain number of frames (by default — 10 frames). It is necessary to take into account what position the fighter is in, what his state is: tense or relaxed, where he moves during the battle, and so on. This adds an additional layer of complexity that turns each battle into the uniquely visceral experience.
The game uses a damage-scoring based on the affected body part and the force applied. A blow to the head gives the biggest amount of points. Hitting feet and hands do not inflict damage.
The affected part of the body turns red with each consecutive hit or bigger force applied — the redder the joint the more damage has been done.
With the correct manipulation over the fighter and hitting another player with the certain force applied, a part of the body can become fractured. By controlling the avatar there is a way to perform quite complex attacks. There are many styles and tactics based on the number of frames per turn, the length of the fight, the distance between opponents, and the ease of ripping or breaking body parts.
The main goal of the game is to earn as many points as possible during the fight by hitting the opponent or by putting the opponent on the floor to disqualify him. In most game modes (aikido, judo, etc.), the goal is to disqualify the opponent. This occurs when a joint or other part of the body (other than palms and feet) touches the floor or when any part of the body touches the floor outside of the playing area.
